Yarn Along

Joining with Ginny at Small Things for today's Yarn Along!

Unfortunately, the only reading I've been able to do lately is in studying for my upcoming NCLEX exam (the test you take to become a registered nurse) and is occupying several hours of each day. Thankfully, there have been quite a few rainy days lately so I don't fell as though I've missed too much fun.

I needed something mindless to knit while reading through my review material, so I cast on for Saco Stripes and I'm nearly finished after ten short days!

In the meantime I submitted my sample to Swans Island and redeemed my credit (money burns a hole in my pocket).  This gorgeous stuff arrived just this afternoon!  The worsted in seasmoke will be a Lila and the 50/50 merino/silk blend in sea glass will be a Namaste Pullover.  So excited to finally be making a sweater out of this soft stuff!

Kelbourne Feature

How exciting!  Kelbourne Woolens featured my Linden Shawl on their blog here.  I'm a little late seeing it but it definitely brightened my day :)

Yarn Along

Joining with Ginny at Small Things for today's Yarn Along!

I finished the Lapwing I started last week, but haven't quite blocked it to my satisfaction so no photos yet.  Since then I've piddled with a couple projects (mostly Saco Stripes and Shoals Tank), but haven't had much time for knitting/reading due to a last minute NCLEX (really expensive nursing state board exam) review. In the meantime, this lovely Julie Asselin Leizu DK arrived for my Campside test, and it's clearly necessary to drop all other projects for this one!

In the way of reading - I'm still reading an article here and there from Deeply Rooted Mag when I have spare time, but most of my reading time has been spent on nursing material.

Venus Cardigan Sample

As promised - pictures of my finished Venus Cardigan sample.  I want to apologize in advance for the picture overload that is to follow.... but since I have to ship this bad boy back to Swans Island in the morning I thought it better to err on the side of too many than too few!  This truly is a design fit for a wardrobe staple.  I could see myself wearing this all year long.  And I love that the design is ageless - here pictured on a 15, nearly 23, and 48 year old (all with different builds)  and I think it looks great!  While there are some adjustments I will make next time (see ravelry notes),  I will definitely be knitting one of these for my closet!

Yarn Along

Joining with Ginny at Small Things for today's Yarn Along!

I finally finished my Venus Cardigan this morning!  I hope to post some photos of it tomorrow before I ship it back to Swans Island.  While I wait for my Julie Asselin yarn to test Alicia's Campside, I decided to cast on for Lapwing  since it should be a pretty quick knit.

I haven't  been doing much reading lately, but I did receive this beautiful magazine the other day.  Deeply Rooted is such a wonderful publication and I'm absolutely thrilled that I stumbled across it on my Instagram feed!  Their statement of faith is spot on and both the writing and images are so beautiful.
