Summer Weddings

Just a few photos from a couple different weddings earlier in the summer.  My boy is growing SO fast!

Baby Britches

Just finished up the sweetest little pair of baby pants for Danskknit on Ravelry.  I'm already dreaming up a textured pair in Quince & Co. to be worn unrolled.  Britches are unblocked and sweet baby boy was sleepy, but they are just too cute not to share.

Some sweet little Misha & Puff bloomers for my little man.  Made the 6-12 month size for a then 3 month old and he is already fitting them pretty snugly without a cloth diaper bum!  Goodness me he's growing way too fast.  Test knitting a pair of sweet little baby britches for him at the moment and he measures for the 18 month size, so we'll see how they fit in a week or two.

Learning to Sew Again

It's been quite some time since I learned to sew and whipped up just a few little things.  Making this bonnet felt like learning all over again, but it was almost like riding a bike and quickly came back to me.  I have been eyeing Briar bonnets ever since I first saw them, but haven't had the money to spend on them for my fast growing little boy.  Instead, I found a free tutorial over at Purl Soho and made my own using some organic cotton bought with a coupon at Jo Ann Fabrics.  Not quite the same, but still oh, so sweet!   As you can see, I hadn't pressed the finished product (I didn't have an ironing board at the time), but it's still pretty darn cute.

While I Was Away

It's sad to say, but in the busyness of divorce, marriage, baby and three moves, I mostly gave up crafting for a while.  A handful of baby things is about all I have to show for the last three years, but boy was that sweet little babe worth it.

The project pictured here (photos by Stephanie Crawford Photography) is The Kumfy Schlutti gown along with The Small Things Bonnet.  Both are knit up in Little Fox Yarn in Vulpine DK in the colorway Nightfall.  A couple of darling little chicken buttons were the perfect finish.

A Wedding

December 11, 2016.  It wasn't an extravagant, expensive wedding full of guests on the edges of their seats. The beautiful wood benches in the old church sat empty that day.  It was just the six of us - Sam and I, our dear friend the preacher, my sister with a camera, Mom sitting in the parking lot, and God with us in spirit.  There were wormy chestnut walls, a few pretty flowers, icecicles on the mill and a chill in the air.  And love... there was so much love.  It was a perfect wedding, followed by a quick trip to the ocean and a few months later, a sweet baby boy.  We are so blessed.

Change

Sometimes things happen in our lives that we never anticipated, both for the good and for the bad.  I never thought I'd come nose to nose with divorce.  Never thought I'd remarry a man more than twice my age (or anyone for that matter).  Never imagined we'd have such a beautiful baby boy.  Of course there are regrets, labels and shame, but this is what my family looks like now and for that I am so very grateful.
