Hunting for Miracles

The redbuds are blooming, the May apples are up and that can only mean one thing - the miracles are just waiting to be found!  For those of you who aren't familiar with miracles (merkels/morels), they're an elusive but very delicious breed of mushrooms.  Yesterday we rounded up the family and went out searching.  It appears this year is going to be a good one for miracles - we went home with a good sized mess of mushrooms to fry.  If you're lucky enough to find miracles large enough to stuff, they're absolutely delicious stuffed with a mixture of hamburger, sausage, cheese and onion and then floured and fried.  I can't wait to eat these yummies tomorrow!

Side story... One of my first dates with the farmer consisted of bear hunting on this farm known as The Finch Place.  When I went home and told Daddy about our date, he realized that the farm we went to was my Great Great Grandaddy's home place. Small world!  Someday the farmer and I hope to build a house on the Finch Farm that resembles the old Finch farmhouse and make our homestead there.

I tried to gather some of this pink trillium to take home, but they wilted too soon.
